GORDON MOONEY, founder member and secretary of the LBPS, has been quietly active recently, it seems, and has just announced the release of two cassettes featuring his piping on the Border Keep label, produced by Northumbrian piper Richard Butler. One cassette, The Border Reiver, (BK 008), features Gordon's solo playing on Lowland pipes and Scottish small pipes, the material largely being old Bordér tunes. The other goes by the title Sting in the Tail (BK 009) by (God help us!) B and the Drones, and apparently utilises an intriguing ensemble of instruments including Scottish and Northumbrian small pipes, Lowland pipes, harmonium, piano, recorders and bassoon.

These variegated delights are available from Gordon at 2 Lionwell Wynd, Linlithgow,

at £3.75 each,inc. postage

HAMISH MOORE, who nobly donated the society's first quaich, to be competed for in February's competition, has also been busy playing into a microphone. Further details of the resulting cassette can be got by phoning him at Kingussie 338.
