LBPS Annual Competition 2023 – Saturday 18th March 

Linlithgow Burgh Halls

 

The committee of the LBPS are looking forward to welcoming members to the 2023 LBPS competition.  We encourage you to come and have a go at competing, whatever stage you are at in your small-piping/ Border piping “career”. It’s a supportive atmosphere where you will meet great people, have a chance to listen to a wide range of playing and get constructive feedback on your performance.

Entry fees:

Members:          £2.50 per class 

Non-members:  £5.00 per class 

Spectators:       Free

The venue will be Linlithgow Burgh Halls which is an interesting historic venue with a small museum in the centre of the town, close to the railway station (on the main Glasgow to Edinburgh line).

The hall will be open from 9.15 am with tea and coffee available on arrival. The first class will commence at 10 am prompt. There will be space available for tuning.

Anyone wishing to enter the Overseas class (and remember this includes people based in the UK who can't make it on the day) should record a video that will be shown and judged on the day.  Please see the Competition Rules for full details of the deadline and how to submit your entry.

The theme for the Skeely Piper Trophy will be any tunes with women in the title. This can be a woman's full name or partial name, e.g., 'Jenny Dang the Weaver' or 'Mrs MacPherson of Inveran'.

 

Running order for the day:

9.15 am - Arrival. Tea and coffee will be available

10 am - Morning classes start

      1. Seasoned pipers

      2. Intermediate

      3. Novice

      4. New composition

      5. Duet for Piper and Singer

      6. Skeely Piper Trophy

Approx 12.15 - 1.45 LUNCH Break

1.45 pm Afternoon classes start

      7. Open solo for Scottish smallpipes

      8. Duet for pipes and other instrument

      9. Solo pipe and song

      10. Duet for pipes

      11. Open solo for Lowland and Border pipes

  Approx 3.45 pm Refreshment break
